THE AUTHOR, RAY COTE, WAS EMPLOYED IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY AND ADVANCED TO CONTROLLER. THEN HE OWNED AND OPERATED A HOSPITALITY OPERATION IN FLORIDA. LATER, HE BECAME A CPA AND OWNED A CPA FIRM THAT PERFORMED ACCOUNTING/AUDITING FOR FOOD/BEVERAGE AND HOTEL COMPANIES. HE THEN ENTERED THE EDUCATIONAL FIELD AND ADVANCED TO FULL PROFESSOR AT A HOSPITALITY UNIVERSITY.
Both of my texts are designed and written for the hospitality student whose career path might include supervisor, department head, manager, executive, or owner.
These texts are written by Ray Cote who was an accounting manager/controller for a large hospitality company; afterwards, he owned a hospitality operation in Florida. Later in his career, owned and managed a CPA firm that audited food/beverage and hotel companies. His career then culminated as a (full) professor teaching hospitality accounting and hospitality financial management. His two genuine hospitality financial texts are: HOTEL AND RESTAURANT ACCOUNTING is a principles and systems text for hotels and "stand-alone" restaurants. It offers state of the art accounting with computerized general ledger accounting as the basis for processing financial data.
